What is CLINICAL Hypnotherapy?

It’s probably not what you think.

The purpose of hypnosis as a therapeutic technique is to help you understand and gain more control over your behavior, emotions or physical well-being.

- The Mayo Clinic

Human behavior has shown that everyone can be hypnotized and responds to suggestions. Some individuals are more receptive to physical sensations, others to emotional triggers, and still others to environmental cues, with some responding to all three. This understanding has created new opportunities for hypnotherapists or for anyone using Hypnosis for self-improvement.

Have you ever wondered why an unwanted habit or behavior keeps coming back despite your efforts to change it? Research indicates that our conscious self-discipline often cannot compete with the power of the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is considered to be the origin of many of our behaviors, emotions, impulses, and perspectives. It was once believed that the conscious mind was 12% of the mind and the subconscious made up the other 88%.  Neuroscientists now believe that it is closer to only 5-10% conscious mind compared to 90-95% subconscious mind. It's no surprise that trying to change a habit through sheer willpower alone often doesn't work for most people. Hypnosis can be an effective method for accessing the subconscious mind, helping to facilitate the desired behavior changes and improve your quality of life.

During your private hypnotherapy session, you will stay fully aware of what is happening. Many people even experience a heightened sense of awareness. Sounds become richer, thoughts clearer, and your ability to visualize or imagine is greatly enhanced. These experiences often lead to deep relaxation, a warm fuzzy feeling, or a pleasant tingling or buzzing throughout your body. Many describe being in hypnosis as an absolute escape from all physical and emotional stress, while remaining fully alert. This state prepares the subconscious mind to be more receptive to suggestions that promote behavior changes. Although you are more suggestible during hypnotherapy, you remain conscious and in control of your actions. Hypnotherapy can help you gain greater control over unwanted behaviors and habits you wish to change.
